Martin von Willebrand advises technology-driven companies, with a particular focus on software, cybersecurity regulation, and open technology. He possesses extensive experience in providing comprehensive legal counsel across the technology sector. His track record includes drafting and negotiating agreements for major national and international arrangements and projects, as well as developing operational contracts for both domestic and global use.

Von Willebrand provides strategic counsel on product development and licensing, Intellectual Property (IP) management, and IP strategy. He is a leading expert in the legal and strategic aspects of leveraging open technologies and is internationally recognized for his expertise in data protection and privacy. Furthermore, he represents clients in litigation and dispute resolution involving copyright and other intellectual property rights.

His industry-specific expertise spans technology, software, and platform businesses, as well as payment and financial services, the forest industry, manufacturing, and healthcare.

His positions of trust include the Finnish IT Law Association (Secretary 2006-2008, Chairman 2009-2010), Chairman of Validos (2008-) and Chairman of the Board of the Finnish Center for Open Systems and Solutions (2014-2018, Board Member 2012-, Steering Group Member 2008-). He has authored a book on setting up an Internet-store and is co-author in books Verkkokauppaoikeus, i.e. E-Commerce Law, and JIT 2015 handbook. For example Chambers, Best Lawyers, Who’s Who Legal and many other publications rate him among top technology and data protection practitioners in Finland.

Prior to joining HH Partners in 2001, he worked as an associate at Heikki Haapaniemi Attorneys-at-law Ltd in 2000 and before that in contract handling at Radiolinja Oy, the first GSM-operator in the world.
