An attorney with a strong focus on technology and data, Henri Tanskanen regularly advises clients in the fields of contract, copyright and corporate law as well as in fintech regulation and public procurement issues. In particular, he has key expertise in data protection and open technologies, including open source and other forms of open licensing and collaboration.

Among other assignments of note, Henri has contributed to the official Finnish translations of the Creative Commons 4.0 licenses as the main translator within the Finnish team of subject matter experts, and has co-authored several articles on open source and other software licenses under Finnish law. From 2019 through 2022, he was involved in successfully representing a major cyber security firm at all instances up to the Supreme Court of Finland in a landmark case concerning a seizure of data by the police as evaluated in light of the right to privacy and the confidentiality of electronic communications metadata under the Finnish Constitution and the European human and fundamental rights regimes.

Henri’s earlier career has spanned various roles in both the legal and software industries, including at Nokia Corporation, where he was tasked with providing corporation-wide support and advice in all open source compliance matters.
